The extent of the production site and the exact items found are currently under investigation. Specialists from the National Dismantling Facility (LFO) will dismantle the lab, safely remove all materials, and conduct further investigations together with the police.

Two suspects were arrested at the discovery of the drug lab. They are a 30-year-old man from Spijkenisse and a 32-year-old man from Heerlen. They were arrested on suspicion of possession and manufacturing of hard drugs. The investigation continues and further arrests are not excluded.

Risks
Dangerous substances are used in the production and cutting of drugs. These can be harmful to humans and the environment and even life-threatening. The combination of chemicals, toxic fumes, and poor ventilation can lead to incidents such as explosions and fires. Additionally, locations where (raw materials for) drugs are stored or produced can lead to increased criminal traffic in the neighborhood, making it less safe.

Prevent danger, report suspicions
To combat drug crime and prevent dangerous situations in the area, help from residents is essential. People who suspect a drug lab or drug storage location nearby are urged to report it. This can be done anonymously via Crime Reporting Anonymous at 0800-7000 or online at meldmisdaadanoniem.nl. You can also call the police at 0900-8844.

How to recognize a drug location?
They can be anywhere; in rural areas or big cities, in farm sheds, houses, garages, or apartment buildings. Signs of a drug lab or processing location include a strong synthetic smell (anise-like or chemically irritating, sour or acetone). Unused doors and windows are often sealed, for example with foam.
