Message from the Public Prosecution Service Rotterdam:
Two 15-year-old suspects were presented today to the examining magistrate on suspicion of the robbery of a fatbike at Wisselspoor in Capelle aan den IJssel. They will remain in custody for another 14 days.
On Sunday, September 21, a 15-year-old boy was robbed of his fatbike by several suspects at Wisselspoor. A firearm was pointed at his head. He was also kicked and punched. The suspects fled the scene.
At a fast-food chain, the police wanted to arrest two suspects who matched the description. One of the suspects fled, and the police warned him several times, after which shots were fired. The suspect, a 15-year-old boy from Gouda, was hit. Despite resuscitation and medical assistance from emergency services, he died at the scene from his injuries. The National Detective Service is investigating that incident. Investigations have shown that the boy was in possession of a functioning firearm in the form of a converted gas alarm pistol.
The other suspect involved in the robbery, a 15-year-old boy from Rotterdam, was arrested the same day. A third suspect, a 15-year-old boy from Gouda, turned himself in at the police station in the evening. They were presented today.
The police believe that other individuals were also involved in the robbery. We do not rule out more arrests. If you have information about the robbery, please contact the police.
