The police tracked the vehicle after a check at the German border. Three vehicles stood out and were stopped along the A12 highway near Babberich. In one of the three vehicles, more than 1700 kilos of fireworks were found. The fireworks consisted of unauthorized professional fireworks and consumer fireworks banned in the Netherlands, such as firecrackers. The drivers of the vehicles were all from The Hague and were aged 48, 42, and 21. Because it was suspected that the three belonged together, they were all arrested on suspicion of, among other things, illegal import of these fireworks. They were released after questioning on Sunday, November 16, but remain suspects in this investigation.

Risks

Storing and keeping fireworks is subject to strict safety regulations. Having too much fireworks in, for example, a house or garage is dangerous and can have serious consequences for the safety of residents and the environment. Especially when it concerns fireworks that are banned for consumers.
