These suspects are a 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old man, both from Heerhugowaard. Both men will be questioned about their role in the art theft from the Drents Museum. The stolen masterpieces have not been found.
Searches
Immediately after the arrest, a residence in Heerhugowaard was searched. Earlier in the day, the police conducted searches at a residence in Opmeer and a business premises in Heerhugowaard. Among other things, digital data carriers were seized. Further investigation will be conducted on this. Additionally, on Wednesday morning, the police demanded the surrender of administration at a residence in Heerhugowaard.
Footage from Hardware Store
At the end of January, the police showed footage of the suspect via politie.nl and social media channels on Facebook and Instagram. The suspect can be seen in a hardware store in Assen. Now that we have arrested this 20-year-old suspect, we are taking this footage offline. We ask everyone who shared this footage to also remove it.
Investigation into Stolen Goods
The investigation into the stolen masterpieces from the Drents Museum does not stop with these arrests. The search for these pieces remains our priority. The team of detectives and specialists is still actively investigating.
