Joint Pursuit of Thieves
A police car was meanwhile also called out by the dispatcher at the control room to watch for the suspect, and the officers, like the victim, kept their eyes wide open. Shortly after, it happened. A man matching the suspect’s description walked out of a doorway in the Javastraat. The victim saw him, followed closely, and communicated with the control room. Thanks to her good view of the suspect and her direct line to the control room, everything came together: the victim saw the police unit drive into the street and signaled the officers, who completed the job and arrested the suspect. A great collaboration between this woman, the control room, and officers on the street.

Impact
Fortunately, everything ended well in this case, but the shock is of course enormous. Just imagine: your mind is somewhere else, in your own safe bubble. Enjoying the moment, the sunshine, the fresh air. Suddenly, someone stands in front of you aiming for your phone and strikes immediately. That has a huge impact on you. We as police will do everything to help in such a situation. It is very understandable that victims, especially when weapons or verbal aggression are involved, immediately hand over their valuables. That is often even best for your own safety. But in this situation, the brave victim not only managed to keep her phone but also helped in tracking down the suspect!
