On Thursday, August 28, a 19-year-old woman was cycling on Zevenbergsedijkje when she was chased by a man on a scooter. This man grabbed the victim, pushed her off her bike, and attempted to open her pants. The woman managed to break free and ran away, after which she called the police. The suspect fled on his scooter. The police are investigating the incident, reviewing camera footage, conducting forensic research, and speaking with witnesses.

The suspect from Thursday, August 28, has a light skin tone and is between 20 and 30 years old. Because he was wearing a helmet, the description is limited. However, it was noted that he has a gap between his teeth. The man rides a dark-colored scooter and wore a dark helmet.

Multiple Reports

In recent months, multiple reports have been received from women who have not experienced the same thing but have indicated that they have been harassed by a man on a scooter. This occurred near Zevenbergsedijkje and the Cornelis van Beverenbrug. A total of six women have come forward, aged between 11 and 19 years. The first report was on July 7. The second report followed on August 2. Three of those women are filing charges of assault.

It is still unclear whether the incidents are related or separate. This will need to be determined through investigation. The descriptions vary. The commonality is that it always involves a man on a scooter. It may be that more women have experienced something similar. The police would like to get in touch with them.

Investigation

Recently, intensive investigations were conducted, during which a 42-year-old suspect from Rotterdam was arrested. He has been released after questioning. His description does not match that of the suspect from Thursday evenings incident.
