Exciting and Educational Event for Youth
The Hunt is inspired by the popular TV program where participants are on the run from a law enforcement team. In Gorinchem, it’s all about play, cooperation, and connection. Young people get the chance to engage with the police and BOAs in an accessible and positive way.
Mayor Reinie Melissant is enthusiastic about the initiative: “This is a great opportunity to introduce young people to the police and BOAs in a playful manner. We hope for a pleasant and educational evening for everyone.” Neighborhood officer Sabine Pek is also looking forward to it: “It’s a fun and energetic way to engage with young people and show them what our work entails.”
This is how The Hunt works
The event is a collaboration between the police, youth work The Mall, and the municipality of Gorinchem. A maximum of 200 young people can participate. Participants will receive a tear suit, stamp card, lanyard, and race number at the start. They then have to flee into the neighborhood, where they must find three stamp posts within the designated playing area. Can they collect all three stamps within two hours without being caught by the police or BOAs? Then they are true winners. If they get caught, their game is over.
