The Chase
Around 9:45 PM, officers on Oude Goirleseweg in Tilburg spotted a French vehicle speeding. The driver was possibly holding a phone. Officers signaled the car to stop, and it initially did. When an officer approached, the car fled.
The chase continued at high speed via the A58 towards Rijsbergen. The car entered the village, turned around, and re-entered the highway towards Breda. Fortunately, traffic was light. Officers attempted to box in the vehicle multiple times. The driver refused to stop and nearly collided with a police car.
Around 10:00 PM, the driver lost control and crashed in the tunnel on Franklin Rooseveltlaan. During the chase, the driver was speeding excessively, ran red lights, and drove against traffic.
Vehicle Inspection
Officers then smelled a strong hemp odor from the car and decided to inspect it. They found various soft drugs. The driver tested negative for alcohol but positive for drugs. Further investigation into his substance use is ongoing. Both the drugs and the car have been seized.
Arrests
The driver, a man from France, was arrested for intentional serious traffic endangerment and possession of soft drugs. The two other passengers, a 33-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man from France, were also arrested for possession of soft drugs.
