On Monday, October 6, 2025, at 5:28 PM, a report was received at the Operational Center that two deceased persons were lying in a house. The responding emergency services found a deceased woman and a deceased child on site.
Investigation
An investigation into the circumstances of this incident was immediately initiated. It soon became clear that they were likely the residents of the property, a mother and her child. Specialists from the Forensic Investigation conducted research throughout the evening and part of the night. This investigation revealed that violence had been used.
The investigative team is doing its utmost to obtain clarity as quickly as possible. Several witnesses have been heard, but if you have information that could provide clarity, the team would like to hear from you at 0900-8844.

“We are deeply affected by the terrible event in Vincent van Gogh Street in Terneuzen. Our condolences go out to the relatives of the victims. But also to all others affected, such as friends, acquaintances, neighbors, and the involved primary school.
This event evokes emotions and impacts many. In times of sadness and uncertainty, it is important that we are there for each other. At this moment, there are still many unanswered questions. We await the investigation.”
