That night around 03:30, the neighborhood was startled by a loud bang. The mailbox and the window next to the front door of the house were found to have been damaged with an explosive, presumably a Cobra. Fortunately, no one was injured. With the deployment of an explosives investigator and forensic investigators, we immediately started an investigation. We conducted further neighborhood inquiries and reviewed potentially useful CCTV footage.
Cobras and Hashish
On leftover material, we found a DNA trace that was examined by the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI). Comparison of the DNA in the database led to the identification of the now-arrested suspect. After his arrest, investigators found a total of 12 similar cobras in the house, with which the door was presumably damaged. These were seized. We also seized about 200 grams of hashish that we found in the house. The forensic investigators examined the house, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) assisted with the on-site investigation.
The arrested suspect has been transferred to a police station and is being held for further investigation.
