On Thursday, October 30, the Major Crime Team arrested a 26-year-old man from Amsterdam on suspicion of involvement in the violent death of 80-year-old Mrs. Winkel. The woman was found dead on Wednesday, August 13, in her home on Wittgensteinlaan in Nieuw-West.

After acquaintances of Mrs. Winkel were unable to contact her on August 13, officers visited her home the same day. There they found the woman deceased. Because there were indications of a crime, the police launched a large-scale investigation.

Previous arrests
About a week after the victim was found, on Tuesday, August 19, the police had already arrested three people in connection with the case. These were a 19-year-old woman from Zaandam and two men from Amsterdam aged 20 and 23. The 19-year-old woman is no longer a suspect in the case. The two Amsterdam men aged 20 and 23 remain in custody, as does the 26-year-old man who was just arrested.

Fake police officers

The police suspect that the suspects posed as police officers to get in contact with the victim. She was presumably first approached by phone by a man pretending to be a police officer.

White Seat Ibiza
The police are looking for witnesses who saw a white Seat Ibiza and its occupants near Wittgensteinlaan on August 13, 2025. The vehicle may be involved in the crime.
