The residents of the house were peacefully sleeping when around 5 a.m. they suddenly sat upright in bed after a loud bang. They immediately went downstairs and found a mess. Due to the force of the explosion, doors in the house were blown open and the hallway was covered with glass. They called emergency number 112 immediately.
Overpowered by Neighbors
Operators at the operational center dispatched officers to Sint Willebrord. While en route, officers were informed that neighbors were chasing a possible suspect. On Dorpsstraat in Sint Willebrord, the neighbors had overpowered and detained the suspect. The suspect was handed over to the police. He was immediately taken to a police detention center and will be questioned on Sunday.
Neighborhood Investigation
The police collected witness statements and conducted a neighborhood investigation. A crime scene was cordoned off with police tape to enable a thorough investigation. Traces were found at the crime scene and are being further examined by detectives. During the neighborhood investigation, camera footage was collected and additional information gathered. These clues support the police investigation.
The residents of the damaged house filed a report. The arrested suspect is an 18-year-old male from Sint Willebrord. He is in custody and remains detained.
