On Sunday, September 7, 2025, there was an attempted arson at a house on Prof. Struijckenlaan in Baarn. Around 3:30 AM that night, a possible explosive device was placed at the front door of the house. It did not detonate and no one was injured. The police had already arrested a 54-year-old man from Leek at that time.
Series of explosions
In 2025, a series of 11 explosions occurred in Baarn. Residents on Acacialaan, Fresiastraat, and Hoofdstraat were among those startled by explosions or attempts thereof. Prof. Struijckenlaan, Goeman Borgesiuslaan, and Amsterdamsestraatweg were also affected.
Suspect arrests
The two suspects arrested by the police last Tuesday are linked to the attempted arson at Prof. Struijckenlaan on January 27. They are a 21-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man from Dordrecht. It is being investigated whether they are also involved in the other explosions. Earlier, the police arrested a 54-year-old man from Leek for the explosion at Prof. Struijckenlaan on September 7 and a 23-year-old man from Amsterdam for the explosion at Goeman Borgesiuslaan on May 9.
