In the past month, various retailers have been affected by a series of break-ins, with the Heksenwiel shopping center being the primary target. In total, there were five business break-ins, including clothing stores, a snack bar, a tanning studio, and a pizzeria.
Several police officers kept a close watch at the shopping center on the night of June 12 to 13. It seemed to be a long night until the officers noticed a man on a bicycle nearby around 4:30 AM. The man stopped in front of the entrance of a hairdresser, got off his bike, and suddenly threw an object through the window of the front door. After the window shattered, the suspect stepped inside.
Police, stay where you are! shouted one of the officers. The man initially resisted but eventually surrendered. The officers arrested the suspect and took him to the police station, where he will have to account for his actions.
Typical Modus Operandi
The method of operation, also known as the modus operandi in police terms, suspiciously resembles previous break-ins. In several cases, the perpetrator arrived on a bicycle and threw an object through the window to gain access to the buildings. Given the similarities between these incidents, the police are investigating whether there is a connection.
