Around 8:40 PM, the police received a report of an attempted home burglary. The resident, who was not at home at the time, saw via surveillance cameras that the burglars entered the premises.
When the police arrived on site, they were able to arrest the suspects in the act. The burglars were carrying various burglary tools.
Call 112 in case of a burglary
Residents know best when something is wrong in their neighborhood. For example, a stranger peering into houses or suspicious activities at a house where you know the residents are on vacation. If you call 112 then, the police may be able to prevent a burglary or catch a burglar in the act. Call 112 for emergencies, including witnessing a crime or the preparation of a burglary or theft.
How to make it difficult for burglars
Burglars take advantage of opportunities they are given. You make it harder for them by:
- Approved locks and fittings on windows, (garage) doors, and any skylights.
- Surveillance cameras
- A special lock on burglary-prone sliding doors.
- Adequate outdoor lighting.
- Timer switches on all floors of your house. Let your indoor lighting turn on and off at different times.
