At around 7:10 PM, the police received a report that a firearm might be lying in a house in Hoogerheide. When the police arrived at the location, the man was standing at the side of his house. Because the man might be carrying a firearm, the officers called out to him to show his hands and get down on his knees. The man complied and did what he was asked. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. The man was 74 years old. He was taken by colleagues to the station for questioning.

Meanwhile, two officers entered the house. They found a firearm downstairs. They continued their search through the house and found several more weapons and ammunition. The officers contacted the weapons, ammunition, and explosives department (WME). Due to the amount of weapons and ammunition found, it was decided to seal the house so that an investigation could be conducted. On Wednesday, October 8, the weapons and ammunition were confiscated.
