In 2021, law enforcement agencies managed to gain access to millions of messages from users of the platform and could read encrypted messages from criminal organizations live. Sky ECC was taken offline by the police in March 2021 and the data was intercepted. Through this intercepted data, a large number of suspects have been arrested and sentenced to long prison terms. To this day, the police continue to track suspects via Sky ECC.
