On Thursday, October 9, 2025, around 6:00 PM, multiple reports were received at the Operational Center (the control room) of the police regarding a fight near a shopping center on Pottenbakkerssingel. Police officers were quickly on the scene and found an injured man. The man, a 35-year-old resident of Middelburg, stated that he had been suddenly struck by someone he did not know and that this person had also thrown his bag into the water. The injured victim was initially assisted by store staff and then checked by paramedics. Meanwhile, the police investigated the circumstances and it became clear that after the incident, two boys involved had fled on a fatbike towards the city center. A short time later, a police unit was able to stop the two in Kalverstraat. It turned out to indeed be the boys involved in the fight. They were arrested on suspicion of public violence. They are two minors from Middelburg.

Other Case

On Friday morning, October 10, the police arrested an 18-year-old man, residing in Middelburg, outside of the act in Vlissingen. They were looking for the man because he had been involved in a public violence incident earlier that week in Vrijlandstraat in Middelburg. On Tuesday, October 7, around 5:00 PM, the police had already arrested a 23-year-old resident of Middelburg for this. That Tuesday afternoon, police officers responded to a report of a fight at a shopping center on Vrijlandstraat. When they arrived at the shopping center, they found an injured man. The man stated that he had been beaten up. One of the suspects was still on the scene and could be immediately arrested. The victim was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
Police officers conducted an investigation into the incident and spoke with witnesses, as well as checked if there were available CCTV footage. During that investigation, a second suspect also came into view. This man was arrested outside of the act on Friday morning.
