Explosion and Fire
On Tuesday, June 3, around 00:30, an explosive device went off at a house at Horst 15, which caused a small fire. Fortunately, no one was injured. At Karveel 48, arson occurred on Wednesday, June 4, around 23:10 in the evening. The residents were able to extinguish the fire themselves. Again, fortunately, no one was injured.
Two Suspects Arrested
The police immediately began investigations after both incidents. Evidence was secured, neighborhood inquiries were conducted, and witnesses were called to come forward. Part of the investigation was to determine if there was a connection between the arson and the explosion. The investigation led to the first two suspects, who were arrested on Tuesday, June 24. They are a minor boy from Apeldoorn and an 18-year-old man from Amsterdam. Their involvement in both incidents is under further investigation. The suspects will be presented to the examining magistrate to determine whether they should be held in pre-trial detention longer. The police do not rule out additional arrests in this case and will continue the investigation.
