At around 7:30 PM, officers saw two boys riding a moped without helmets on Fluitekruid. At one point, they nearly collided with two other boys who were also riding a moped. Officers saw that one of the boys without a helmet picked up an object resembling a firearm and seemed to threaten the other boys. The officers then positioned their vehicle across the road to block the mopeds. They exited the car, drew their firearm, and fired a warning shot. When both mopeds stopped, a BTGV (Approach Technique for Dangerous Suspects) was executed.
Possession of fake firearms is life-threatening and illegal
If a fake firearm cannot be distinguished from a real firearm, officers always act as if it is a real firearm. It is important for people, especially young people in this case, to realize this. It can lead to life-threatening situations, such as an officer having to draw their weapon or even fire. Fake firearms that resemble real firearms are prohibited in the Netherlands. Possession of such a fake weapon is illegal.
