The report of the shooting incident was received by the police around 5:50 PM. Officers found the severely injured victim at the scene. Unfortunately, medical assistance was no longer effective. The victim died at the location of the incident. 

Tips, footage, and other information

The detectives immediately started a major investigation into the circumstances of the shooting incident. The criminal investigation is also in full progress. The police are explicitly seeking as many tips, camera footage, and other information as possible that can help us in the investigation. We ask residents, possible witnesses, and others to contact us if they have more information.

Stop spreading footage

On social media, footage linked to the shooting incident in Meppel was shared on Friday evening. We strongly urge everyone to stop sharing these images and also ask everyone to delete the footage. This is out of respect for the victims relatives.
