On the night of July 12 to 13, 2025, a cyclist on the Veldwijk was robbed by two individuals on a scooter. The victim was forced to hand over personal belongings under threat of a weapon. The perpetrators then fled, and the police were notified. The scooter used was found shortly after the report and was identified as stolen.
The police launched an investigation, which resulted in the arrest of a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, both from Woerden.
The police tracked the suspects through extensive investigations of phones, camera footage, witnesses related to the scooter theft, and GPS data. They are currently detained for investigation and questioning. Both suspects will appear before the examining magistrate on Thursday, December 18.
