In December 2025, three violent street robberies took place in Zaandam. The first robbery occurred on Sunday, December 21, on Vermiljoenweg. A few days later, on December 24 (Christmas Eve), another street robbery happened on Vermiljoenweg. The victim was forced at gunpoint by three suspects to hand over his personal belongings. On December 26, Christmas Day, a street robbery took place on Koekoeksbloemweg.

A few days later, on January 9, the fourth street robbery occurred again on Koekoeksbloemweg. One of the suspects had already been arrested for this last robbery but was released under conditions by the court. Subsequently, his involvement in similar offenses became apparent, and he was re-arrested.

Threat to enforcement officer

On Monday, January 5, a threat with a firearm also took place at Behouden Haven in Zaandam. Around 10:25 PM, enforcement officers received a report that four youths were throwing snowballs with stones inside at a municipal scanning vehicle. The youths were seen by enforcement officers in Westzijde. One of the youths was stopped by the enforcement officer in the parking lot at Behouden Haven, after which he threatened the officer with a firearm. The suspect then fled. Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident.

The suspects are currently in custody, and the investigation continues. Further arrests are not excluded.
