The man allegedly arranged to meet his ex-partner on May 3, 2025, in a parking lot at a supermarket in the Austrian town of Maria Alm. The meeting escalated into a shooting incident in which the victim was shot in the head and subsequently died. The suspect fled in a rented Skoda Octavia, prompting a large-scale manhunt that also involved the public. Last Tuesday, the trail seemed to lead to the Netherlands. The Fugitive Active Search Team (FAST) from Austria requested FASTNL to track down and arrest the man. FASTNL immediately launched an investigation into the whereabouts of the suspect, and this morning the DSI was able to apprehend the wanted person in Utrecht. The suspect will be brought before the extradition chamber of the court in Amsterdam, which will decide on his extradition.
About FASTNL
FASTNL is a collaboration between the National Prosecutors Office and the National Unit for Investigation and Interventions of the police. The team has one mission: to get fugitive criminals back behind bars. They operate within the Netherlands but also work closely with foreign authorities to track down fugitives. FASTNL is part of the ENFAST network (European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams). Through this network, FASTNL also receives requests for assistance in locating foreign fugitives who may be hiding in the Netherlands.
