The officers were driving around 11:30 PM on the Koperslagerij. They saw a car that was initially parked behind a hedge and suddenly drove off when the police approached. This caught the officers attention, so they signaled the car to stop and checked the driver. During the check, the police smelled a strong odor of cannabis and noticed that the driver had unusual eyes, which often happens with people under the influence of drugs. They asked the driver if he had drugs in the car. The man handed over two bags of cannabis.
The driver then refused a saliva test and a subsequent blood test, which is a criminal offense. The passenger became irritated and interfered with the check. Suddenly, he threw a plastic bag a few meters away. When the officers examined the bag, they found several bags of pills. It is likely to be ecstasy and other hard drugs, but this is under further investigation. Both men have been arrested and taken to the police station. Since the driver could not show a rental contract for the car and considering he had previously been in contact with the police regarding drug-related matters, the officers seized the car. The drugs were also confiscated.
