Snapchat
The scammers approached the victim via Snapchat and WhatsApp. During this contact, the scammers gained more and more trust and made the victim believe there was a relationship. The scammers used various excuses to get the victim to transfer money. The victim was also pressured and physically threatened.
Arrested
The police launched an investigation into this fraud and extortion. Last Wednesday, two individuals were arrested suspected of involvement in these offenses. They are a 20-year-old man and a 27-year-old man from Leiden. They are currently in custody and being questioned.
