This control is a way for us to remove people who drive under the influence from the road. We also want to remind people to agree on who will stay sober next time. Or to choose another way to get home, for example by taxi. We also want you to get home safely. Therefore, we also checked taxis that night.
327 people took a breath test
On the Heideweg, 327 people took a breath test. 320 people had not drunk too much. Seven people tested positive: they were driving under the influence of alcohol. One driver was also under the influence of drugs. For one driver, the amount of alcohol was high enough to immediately confiscate the drivers license.
Even during a control, our other work continues. For example, we handled an accident at the roundabout Zeddeweg/N247. A driver was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. This driver was arrested and the drivers license was confiscated. Shortly thereafter, we encountered another driver on the Zeddeweg. This driver was driving with a flat tire and was under the influence of alcohol. This drivers license was also confiscated.
Control of taxis
If you choose a taxi to get home, it is good for your safety if the driver has everything in order. Unfortunately, that was not always the case. We issued fines for the following issues:
- Two taxis had a slick tire.
- Six taxis did not have a fare card.
- In several taxis, the administration in the onboard computer was incorrect. We saw three incorrect trip registrations, two times a carrier who was not logged in, two times a driver who was not logged in, and in two taxis there was even no onboard computer.
- One taxi did not have a taximeter.
- We also encountered illegal taxi transport twice.
Five tips for when you get into a taxi
Are you getting into a taxi? Pay attention to this:
- Use official taxis.
- Check if the taxi company has a permit.
- Check if there is a meter with the price present.
- Agree on a price and method of payment in advance.
- If you pay digitally, make sure the price matches what you agreed upon.
