During an inspection organized by the municipality of Medemblik and the police, an empty building was visited on Achtereiland. Once inside the building, a cultivation with 1000 plants was discovered. A suspect was found in the building and was immediately arrested. A second suspect attempted to flee but was caught red-handed by a municipal employee and handed over to the police.
The suspects are a 59-year-old resident of Medemblik and a man whose identity is still being investigated by the Immigration Police.
There are indications that there has been a previous harvest. The power supply has been safely disconnected, and the cultivation has been dismantled. The plants and accessories will be destroyed.

Cannabis cultivations can create unsafe situations. Many dangerous substances are used to stimulate the growth of the plants, tapping electricity poses a fire hazard, and there is a risk of rip deals and violence.
