At around 8:25 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the police received a report of an incident at the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) at Hogehilweg in Amsterdam. While the officers were handling this incident, another case arose. They were approached by a security guard that a person – who does not reside there – was causing a disturbance and refused to leave the premises. When the officers attempted to remove this man from the premises, he refused to cooperate and became aggressive. The officers decided to arrest the suspect, during which he struck one officer hard in the face and grabbed the other in the groin. During the arrest, the officers were forced to use physical force and the expandable baton. The man was subsequently arrested.
The officers have filed reports of assault and abuse.
The case is under investigation.
Violence Against Police
The police find aggression and violence against their staff unacceptable. Police officers have a responsible role in society and must be able to perform their duties without being hindered. With mutual respect. Aggression or violence, in any form, against staff is not tolerated.
