It has now been three years since the then 19-year-old Xavier was reported missing by his mother on May 12, 2022. His lifeless body was found on May 19 on the Kollenberg in Sittard. Since then, the investigation team, led by the Public Prosecution Service Limburg, has been conducting an uninterrupted investigation into the circumstances of his death for three years. Dozens of witnesses have been heard, hundreds of hours of footage have been examined, physical and digital neighborhood research has been conducted, traces have been investigated, and DNA research has been initiated. Additionally, various searches have been carried out, and the public has been repeatedly asked for help. This has happened so far four times in the television program Opsporing Verzocht. In the investigation into Durlingers death, previous arrests have already been made. The 22-year-old man who was arrested in May 2022 is no longer considered a suspect.

The suspect arrested on Monday morning had previously been arrested (April 2023). Read more about that here. After spending several months in pre-trial detention, he was released by the court in September 2023. New investigative information has led to the re-arrest of the now 25-year-old man from Sittard.
