Patrolling officers received a report from the Operational Center that a traffic accident had occurred on Kanariesprenk in Vlissingen. The officers quickly drove to the accident site. They found a car on Kleiwegpad that had most likely collided with a tree. The car was severely damaged, the front wheel was broken off, and the tree was stripped of bark. No driver was present at the car.

Blood traces in the car
Because blood traces were found in the car, the officers conducted a search in the nearby area. The driver had to be injured as a result of the collision, as the traces indicated. With the help of witnesses, the officers discovered where the suspected driver was located. At approximately 10:00 AM, the officers found the 28-year-old man in a house near Kleiwegpad. The man resisted arrest by kicking towards the officers. He also insulted them and made threatening remarks in their direction.

The suspect was taken to a police detention center. There, he was examined and treated by a doctor for his injuries. The man is in custody for questioning. He refused to cooperate with a saliva test and a breathalyzer test. He is suspected of driving under the influence, as the officers smelled a strong alcohol odor on him.

The owner of the car, a relative of the suspect, filed a report of joyriding. The car was towed away by a towing company.
