The police officer in question was assisting colleagues around 11:20 PM during a ticketing conversation when he was pushed and kicked from behind. This caused injury to his thumb. The man who did this then broke the officers radio. The officer pushed him away and arrested him.
Discriminatory Words
When the colleague tried to apprehend the suspect, who had fallen to the ground, he began kicking him. At the moment the officer grabbed the suspect, the suspect looked at him and insulted him. He used several very serious and coarse discriminatory terms multiple times. The suspect later confirmed laughingly that he had indeed discriminated. This deeply affected our colleague, especially the last part.
Seizure and Area Ban
The suspect was taken to the police station where he is still detained. The police officer filed a report. The public prosecutor ordered a victim compensation seizure of €2000 from the suspect to cover not only material but also immaterial damages after these discriminatory insults. Furthermore, an area ban was imposed on him.
Unacceptable
Aggression and violence against police officers is unacceptable and is dealt with strictly. People suspected of verbal or physical violence against police officers can face higher penalties from the Public Prosecution Service (OM), potentially up to double the normal sentence. This applies not only to violence and aggression against police officers but also to other public service workers such as ambulance staff, firefighters, and enforcement officers. The police do everything possible to protect all people with public duties and, together with the Public Prosecution Service, to track down and prosecute suspects of aggression or violence.
