During the control, two drivers were caught driving under the influence of narcotics. One of the drivers was also found to be driving with a revoked license (the 4th time this year he has been caught) and ignored the stop signal. His vehicle has been seized. A report will be made. The other driver had a knife and a number of counterfeit bills seized by the officers. Additionally, several fines were issued for driving without a license and holding a mobile phone while driving.
Mainport Program
The Harbor Police consists of community officers who patrol the ports, detectives who conduct investigations, and information staff who create analyses. The team investigates various forms of crime, such as narcotics, environmental issues, theft and smuggling, money laundering, and labor exploitation. The Harbor Police team is made possible by the mainport program of the Ministry of Justice and Security, which provides funds to make the sea ports in Zeeland and West Brabant resilient and safe. We combat crime in our sea ports together with the municipalities of Vlissingen, Borsele, Terneuzen, and Moerdijk, the Public Prosecution Service, Customs, the Royal Marechaussee, the Tax Authorities, and the port companies North Sea Port and Port of Moerdijk by combining forces. This makes our sea ports resilient against undermining crime and addresses criminals, ensuring safe work and good business operations here.
