That evening, the victim (51) was placing signs for an event around 8:30 PM on Rijnstraat. He was holding a bottle of beer at the time. At that moment, he sees a car approaching at high speed, driving against the one-way traffic. As the car passes him, the man throws some beer over the car in protest. The driver apparently did not appreciate this, as he brakes and speeds in reverse towards the complainant. In this roadway, three people have to jump aside for the oncoming car. However, it drives at increasing speed towards the complainant and hits him. The car also crashes into a fence of a front yard. The injured victim falls and briefly loses consciousness. When he comes to, he sees that the car is now driving forward towards him again. The man tries to jump aside but is hit again. Then the car, presumably a Black Opel Corsa, speeds away towards Maasstraat.
