Every day, people fall victim to crimes that take place online. For example, phishing emails, WhatsApp fraud, or ransomware. In 2023, it affected 2.3 million Dutch people. That’s 6,400 victims per day! And that’s probably just the tip of the iceberg, as only two out of ten victims actually report the crime.
Time for Action!
To make the residents of Central Netherlands, including young people, less digitally skilled individuals, the elderly, or those with low literacy, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises resilient against this type of online crime, the action day #Echtnietvandaag is being organized on Wednesday, September 10. The police of Central Netherlands, the Platform for Safe Entrepreneurship Central Netherlands, and the Safety Coalition of Central Netherlands are calling on everyone to take action that day. We ask businesses, (semi-)government, schools, associations, and residents to either organize an action themselves on September 10 or participate in an action in their area.
Organize an Action or Join In
Just like many other parties, organize an activity on September 10 or join in an action in your area! How does that work? For all information, visit www.echtnietvandaag.nl/midden-nl.
This successful action day #Echtnietvandaag was previously organized in Eastern Netherlands and Rotterdam. Now Central Netherlands is taking over. For more information about the action day, visit www.echtnietvandaag.nl.
