A car with a German license plate entered the street, presumably at very high speed. Prins Hendrikstraat is a 30 km/h zone, but the vehicle was likely traveling significantly faster than 30 kilometers per hour. Due to a type of refuge in the road, and the car crashing against it, the car was essentially launched. The vehicle then flew to the right side of the street, crashing into two parked cars. In one of these cars were two people who were just about to get out. Another car ended up on its side due to the impact. The people in the affected car miraculously suffered no injuries, as later confirmed in the hospital.
Afterward, the car sped to the left side of the road and also collided with parked cars there. A huge wreckage was the result. Emergency services were alerted. Firefighters, ambulances, and police all arrived on the scene due to the scale of the accident.
Two suspects arrested
In the car that caused the accident were four individuals. Two of them were injured and had to be taken to the hospital. Two passengers were arrested. They are a 17-year-old and a 20-year-old boy from Breda. They are suspected of deliberately causing an accident resulting in injury. On-site, they both had to undergo a breath and saliva test, but it was not found that they were under the influence of alcohol or drugs (as tested). The 20-year-old had to surrender his drivers license immediately.
At this moment, it is still unclear who the driver was of the car that caused the accident. This is under investigation. The car has therefore been sealed and towed away. The specialists from the Traffic Team will investigate the car for traces left by the occupants.
