The operation is part of a joint ongoing investigation by the National Investigation and Intervention Unit and the English North West Regional Crime Unit. The investigation focuses on a drug line from the Netherlands to the United Kingdom (UK), where cocaine and heroin are presumably being traded.
Last night, a van with a large quantity of narcotics was intercepted in Merseyside (UK), presumably cocaine, and two suspects were arrested by the British police. At the same time, multiple locations were searched in the Netherlands in the central part of the country. Five suspects were arrested. They include two men from the United Kingdom aged 42 and 54, and three Dutch suspects from Loosdrecht (58 years), Lelystad (46 years), and Hilversum (53 years). Phones and other data carriers have been seized. Additionally, a firearm, a large amount of cash, illegal cigarettes, and materials for the production of synthetic drugs were found. Furthermore, several vehicles were seized.
The five suspects are detained for questioning and will be presented to the examining magistrate on Thursday, May 22.
