The National Enforcement Unit and Interventions, under the leadership of the National Public Prosecutors Office, initiated an investigation into the suspects identified during another investigation involving Skyecc chats. The investigation is a collaboration with Spain and focuses on these three men from the Netherlands, with the 56-year-old man, residing in Spain, designated as a High Value Target (HVT). Therefore, Spain also places great importance on his arrest.

This investigation shows that the father and sons are involved in organizing and executing international drug transports and the trade in narcotics. So far, the suspects are linked to six intercepted cocaine shipments totaling nearly 600 kilos of cocaine, seized in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, and Spain.

Results

In total, ten searches were conducted in the Netherlands and one in Spain. Many data carriers, expensive watches and other jewelry, cars, a printing press, and a small amount of drugs were seized. Additionally, €150,000 was confiscated. In Spain, various data carriers, administration, and a car were also seized.

The suspects are in custody for questioning and will be presented to the examining magistrate on Friday.

Drugs

Drug production and trade underlie much of the undermining problems in the Netherlands. This manifests in liquidations, violence, threats, corruption, money laundering, and the mixing of the criminal underworld with the upper world. Therefore, we tackle the criminal networks involved in the import, production, and trade of drugs firmly.

National and international cooperation

In our broad approach to drug crime, we achieve success thanks to structural cooperation with national and international enforcement partners. During this investigation, we worked closely with the Spanish Guardia Civil. During the arrests, the National Enforcement Unit and Interventions collaborated closely with colleagues from the National Expertise and Operations Unit (LX), several regional police units, and the Spanish police.
