On Thursday evening, the resident of Appelgaard received a call from someone who later turned out to be impersonating a police officer. The story sounded credible, and the so-called officer said another officer would come later that evening to collect jewelry and money. Shortly after, the fake officer came to the door and took the jewelry and money. Afterwards, the resident became suspicious and called the police. The arriving real officers were alerted to a suspicious car possibly connected to the scam. The car was stopped and the occupants checked. The stolen goods from the scam were recovered and the two fake officers were arrested. They are a 21-year-old man from Oud-Beijerland and a 25-year-old man from Vlaardingen.
