It is around 1:00 AM on the night of Friday, June 6 to Saturday, June 7. A 66-year-old man is walking on the Prinsengracht near the Leidsegracht. A group of boys approaches him and asks for a cigarette. The man indicates that he does not smoke and would like to be left alone. Then the boys start to bother him in a brazen manner. They take his belongings. And despite the mans repeated requests to be left alone, the boys start pushing him.
Witnesses hear the boys egging each other on to even throw the man into the water. After a kick from one of the boys, the man falls to the ground. Instead of helping the victim, some other boys also kick him. Then the group runs away, leaving the man injured on the bridge. Later in the hospital, it turns out that the man has broken his hip.
The police immediately took the case under investigation after the incident. Nevertheless, the investigation team would like to make an appeal for more witnesses. Are there people who were in the vicinity of the Prinsengracht and/or the Leidsegracht that night and saw something? Or are there people in possession of camera footage?
