Given the seriousness of the report received by the police on Monday morning, every effort was made to find the children as quickly as possible. Under the direction of the Public Prosecution Service, a large-scale investigation was initiated. Through good cooperation with the Belgian authorities, the Special Units of the Federal Police, and the Federal Judicial Police, the children were successfully found during the night from Monday to Tuesday. The children are being handed over to the legal guardians.
Photos and Names
The photos and names of the children have been widely circulated. The Amber Alert has since been lifted, but in addition, the police and the Public Prosecution Service urgently request everyone to remove photos of the children and not to share them further, along with their names. We also ask everyone to respect the privacy of the young children.
Since the investigation is still ongoing, the police cannot share more details about the background of the case at this time. The Amber Alert was not issued lightly. This is only done when there are significant concerns about the well-being of missing children. That was the case here. Thanks to the Amber Alert, there was a lot of thinking along and tips given to the police, for which the investigation team sincerely thanks everyone.
