A 27-year-old man from The Hague was robbed of his Rolex watch on Houtlaan on Thursday, May 8. He had offered the watch for sale on a sales site and had an appointment that day with a potential buyer. At the moment he showed the watch to the buyer in his car, a second man suddenly appeared next to the car and threatened him with a knife. The men tried to flee with the watch.
Overpowered by Bystanders
However, the victim held onto the buyer by his jacket. When the buyer returned the victims watch, he let him go. The buyer managed to escape. Bystanders managed to overpower the man with the knife, after which officers arrested him. This was a 21-year-old man from Hoofddorp.
Two 17-year-old Amsterdammers including the buyer
The investigation team started an investigation and focused on the possible involvement of multiple suspects. The investigation revealed the identities of the suspects now arrested. These 17-year-old Amsterdammers were arrested on Tuesday, May 27, and were released a day later. One of them is the buyer.
Still in Custody
The next day, a 26-year-old man from Amsterdam reported to the police station and was also arrested there and released after questioning. The suspect arrested on May 8 is still in pre-trial detention.
