The police discovered the cannabis cultivation following a report of a conflict. In the premises, the police found not only the cannabis plants but also equipment used for growing them. Both the plants and the equipment have been seized and will be destroyed.
Risks
Illegal electricity was tapped in the business premises. The energy company has removed the meter and cut off the power supply. Illegal electricity tapping is common in cannabis cultivations and carries significant risks. Short circuits or overheating can, for example, cause fires. It is therefore important to report any suspicions of a cannabis cultivation.
How to recognize a cannabis cultivation in your neighborhood?
Help us tackle undermining crime in your area. Be alert to signs of criminal activity and report anything suspicious! A cultivation is characterized by:
- A strong cannabis smell;
- Extensive carpentry work for setting up the plantation, without clear renovation;
- The residence appears uninhabited, with someone occasionally visiting for a short time (to water the plants);
- Constant humming or buzzing noise from ventilation;
- Unknown vehicles unloading or loading large boxes or garbage bags every few weeks;
- Activity at unusual times;
- Activities that do not fit the type of business;
- Noticeably high surveillance with cameras.
