The accident occurred at the intersection with Holkerweg. The victim, riding her bicycle, was hit by a motorist who fled the scene. Emergency services, including the Mobile Medical Team (MMT), attempted resuscitation but unfortunately the woman died at the scene. Shortly after, the police in Amersfoort found the car suspected to be involved in the accident. It is currently unclear who was driving at the time of the accident. So far, one suspect has been arrested and will be questioned in this investigation.
The road was closed until early morning for police investigation. Specialists from the Traffic Investigation Team (OTV) are conducting further investigations based on, among other things, camera footage and witness statements to determine the cause of the fatal accident and who was driving the car.
