Action Week

During the action week, officers across the country visited individuals possessing child pornography. They engaged in conversations warning against possessing, downloading, and/or distributing child pornographic images. They also referred them to the organization Stop it Now, which offers support to anyone concerned about their sexual feelings and behavior towards minors.

Warnings

More than 20 people had confrontation talks with a clear warning: “Stop downloading child pornography and seek help. Next time you will be arrested.” With these early visits, the police aim to prevent these individuals from crossing the line.

A brochure from Stop It Now was also left behind for people who have feelings for children and need help.

Early Intervention

The action week allows early intervention and sends a clear message from the police: You are not safe behind your keyboard, and next time you will be arrested. Many people are shocked when we show up at their door, but they appreciate that we conduct these actions. The parents of minors we visited had no idea what their child was doing online and now say they will monitor it better. Many are relieved; for them, the warning is a push to seek help. Persons who continue their activities despite the police warning can expect a criminal investigation to be initiated.

Awareness Week

The Police Team for Combating Child Pornography and Child Sex Tourism (TBKK) has the mission that all children should grow up free from (online) sexual abuse. The polices first priority is to locate victims and free them from abusive situations and prosecute the suspects. During this prevention week, various TBKK teams and many neighborhood officers were involved.
