On Sunday, March 23, at six oclock in the evening, a woman is walking in Zakkendragersstraat in the center of Dordrecht when she hears a cyclist approaching from behind. She is then grabbed by the English-speaking man who attempts to rape her. Ultimately, the man flees and fortunately does not succeed in his attempt. A sexual offense case is always impactful for victims. Therefore, we will not go into detail about this incident. However, the police are doing everything they can to solve this case. The sex crime team and officers are conducting forensic investigations and reviewing CCTV footage. This has now resulted in us having footage of the suspect while he is cycling in Doelstraat in Dordrecht. Who recognizes this man and/or knows where he is staying?
Witnesses sought
The police would like to speak to witnesses who know who this man is and/or know where he is staying. He cycled away after the incident in the direction of Voorstraat, past Scheffersplein. Do you think you have seen him or have an idea of who he might be? We would like to speak with you. You can also do this anonymously (via Meld Misdaad Anoniem 0800-7000).

Currently, there is one case known to the police. There is always a possibility that the man has attacked more individuals, but the victims have not reported to us. We understand that it is a hurdle to talk about such a traumatic event, but we hope that any potential victims will still come forward.
Feeling of safety
We can imagine that this affects the sense of safety of people on the street, particularly women. The police are taking, among other things, invisible and visible measures for this reason. We are increasing our patrols on the street and speaking with residents. We ask everyone to be extra alert and to look out for each other.
