The police have made a total of nine arrests. Of these nine suspects, six are currently in custody. All are suspected of involvement in the fatal shooting incident.

On November 22, around 5:15 PM, the police received a report of a conflict between several people in a residence at Baansingel in Alkmaar. Shots were reportedly heard. After investigation, Freek was found dead around 7:50 PM in the backyard of a house. Police investigation revealed that the victim was killed with a firearm.
The reward of €15,000 from the Public Prosecution Service for the golden tip is still valid.
