Earlier this year, we received a report that an employee exhibited sexually inappropriate behavior in front of a window of an LX police location in The Hague.
Following the report, a disciplinary investigation was immediately initiated, and the employee in question was placed on special leave. During the investigation, material was found on the employees phone. This material was created by the employee from the same police location towards the opposite building.
The footage shows unknown individuals engaging in intimate acts. This material was then shared with nineteen direct colleagues, prompting a broader investigation.
Outcome of the Investigation
As part of the investigation, conversations were held with the nineteen colleagues who received the footage. It was revealed that the footage was not further disseminated. Additionally, the footage has been deleted.
Based on the footage, it cannot be determined with certainty who the filmed individuals are. Due to privacy concerns, we cannot conduct further investigations to establish the identities of these individuals.
The employee who exhibited sexually inappropriate behavior, unlawfully recorded footage, and disseminated it has been issued a conditional dismissal. Furthermore, he will be internally transferred. The nineteen colleagues received a warning for failing to report the receipt of the footage and for not taking action to stop or address the behavior.
No Tolerance for Inappropriate Behavior
‘We regret that this could happen within our unit. This behavior does not align with our core values and is unacceptable,’ said Inge Godthelp-Teunissen, police chief LX. ‘We want to be an organization of integrity where we do not look away or remain silent in the face of inappropriate behavior.’
