The attentive witness reported to the police on the evening of October 11, 2025, around 10:15 PM, that two men were attempting to steal a fatbike on Parallelweg. The suspects ultimately fled with the bikes battery. Officers immediately drove towards the station and saw two boys on a fatbike coming towards them, matching the provided description. The duo ignored a stop signal and fled. The suspects were apprehended after a short chase on Oude Wouwsebaan. Just before that, they had collided with a police car. The suspects were still in possession of the stolen battery.
Investigation ongoing
The Bergen residents, a 16-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man, are suspected of damaging the alarm of the fatbike, theft of the battery, and attempted theft of the fatbike. The suspects were also in possession of burglary tools. The police seized those, as well as the fatbike the two were riding. The latter was done to investigate whether that bike was also stolen. The duo was interrogated on Sunday. The investigation is still ongoing.
