The operation on November 7 is part of an investigation by the National Detection and Intervention Unit, initiated following information from abroad. Based on this information, the Federal Judicial Police in Belgium discovered and dismantled a large cocaine lab near Liège in July of this year. Sixteen people were arrested in Belgium, and 100 kilos of cocaine, firearms, and a hand grenade were seized. The investigation into the criminal group in the Netherlands then continued.

Drugs

Drug production and trafficking are at the root of much undermining crime in the Netherlands. This manifests in liquidations, violence, threats, corruption, money laundering, and the blending of the criminal underworld with the legitimate world. Therefore, we take strong action against criminal networks involved in the import, production, and trade of drugs.

National and international cooperation

In our broad approach to drug crime, we also achieve successes thanks to structural cooperation with national and international investigative partners. During this investigation, the National Detection and Intervention Unit worked closely with the Federal Judicial Police of Antwerp and the UDYCO division of the Spanish Policia Nacional.
